While a Holistic Health & Wellness Coach may not have Ph.D.s, they are still certified experts in the field of well-being, and provide their clients with holistic and informed guidance for how they can better improve their overall health.  Rather than treating symptoms but ignoring the underlying issues they point to, health coaches look at aspects like sleep, diet, exercise, general lifestyle habits, and more to get to the bottom of health concerns.
 
Just like everyone should see a doctor at least once a year, the majority of the population would also benefit from meeting with a health & wellness coach to create a baseline plan for supporting their overall well-being.  Holistic Health & Wellness coaches help their clients discover and implement practices that can sustain long-lasting improvement to their overall health and well-being.

Benefits of Restorative Yoga
 
These classes are perfect for anyone having challenges with relaxation, needing to de-stress, and/or alleviate pain.
 
Restorative yoga provides the space and time for physical and mental recovery, through a slower, more restful, more passive approach to yoga.  Restorative yoga is meant to melt away muscle tension, lower your heart rate, allow your nervous system to calm down, and alleviate stress, by helping the mind to transition from stress to calm.
 
Restorative yoga has been shown to decrease cortisol levels.  High cortisol levels are associated with high blood pressure, weight gain, and heart disease. Restorative yoga teaches conscious relaxation of the body and mind, therefore decreasing stress and cortisol level.
 
Restorative yoga sequences place your body in a relaxed state that allows your nervous system to fully relax, and stop constantly being in the sympathetic state: fight or flight (always on the go and reactionary).  Here you can tap into the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) to relaxation and healing.  Something we could always use more of in this busy high-demand world we now live in.
 
Our PNS system is the one that engages the vagus nerve. Regularly tapping into the PNS, via restorative yoga and breath work, enables us to relax, be calm and reduce chronic pain symptoms.

Meditation has been proven to offer many benefits mentally, emotionally, and physically: 

  • Reduces stress to combat disrupted sleep, depression and anxiety, increased blood pressure, and increased fatigue and cloudy thinking.

  • Controls anxiety by reducing stress levels that can ultimately achieve lower anxiety.

  • Promotes emotional health by fostering an improved self-image and a more positive outlook on life.

  • Improves sleep.  Becoming skilled in meditation may help you control or redirect the thoughts that often lead to insomnia.

  • Can decrease blood pressure by relaxing the nerve signals that coordinate heart function, blood vessel tension, and the “fight-or-flight” response that increases alertness in stressful situations.  

  • May reduce age-related memory loss.  Improving attention and clarity of thinking may help keep your mind young.

  • May help with fighting addictions. The mental discipline you can develop through meditation may help you break dependencies by increasing your self-control and awareness of triggers for addictive behaviors.

Benefits of Sound Baths
 

Sound has proven to have healing effects on the mind as well as the body.  Sound therapy is as old as time, dating back over 40,000 years. Ancient Greeks used flutes and lyres to treat digestion and mental health, Tibetans used singing bowls for over 2,000 years as a meditation aid, and Australian aboriginal tribes played the didgeridoo to heal the sick.

 

Here are a few ways a sound bath might benefit you…

 

1. Stress reduction: Sound baths produce soothing sounds and vibrations that help induce a state of deep relaxation, reduce stress levels, and promote a sense of calmness.
